Joshua goes to DC
last year, joshua was nominated by his fourth grade teacher to go to Washington DC in 2008 as a student ambassador and take place in a leadership forum with children from all over the country. the program is called People to People and was started by Dwight Eisenhower. well, on March 17th, josh arrived at his hotel in DC. He had a fabulous experience touring the area, the local landmarks, museums, the capitol building, arlington, Jamestown settlement, Gettysburg, and much more. he had a ball and made lots of friends. will post photos when we get them developed (he took tons of pictures!)

American Idol Results Show- 3/16 - so long chikezie!
i have to admit i really think this show is fixed. obviously chikezie was not the most exciting this week, but he has certainly proved himself in the competition the 2 weeks prior. many people loved him and he seems to be a really nice guy. and a real guy. working at LAX as a baggage screener. not like the other plants who have had serious recording contracts (with Randy's record label) and have won televised talent competitions before. sorry to see him go. i think the producers are trying to scare the audience into voting like crazy for their favorites. i mean, jason castro probably has jillions of teeny boppers voting for him. it is also hard for me to believe that kristy lee cook was able to drag herself out of her perpetual bottom three status based on one decent performance. she is a ringer if there ever was one--- in case you missed it, she was the first person signed to britney spears' now defunct record label. she is NOT some cowgirl right off the ranch like they have led the public to believe...

American Idol - Year you were born- who goes home tonite?
Bad bad week for some.... i have to pick Ramiele as the one to leave tonite. i dont even know what would posses her to pick a song that Karly Smithson totally rocked out a mere few weeks ago. that said, Chickezie was back to boring this week, and even though Syesha had her best performance ever, i would never waste my time dialing votes for her. That would be my bottom 3 this week. Kristy Lee improved, Karly fell short of the mark with her rendition of 'total eclipse' and really needs to pick an outfit with sleeves (her inked-up sausage arms are quite unappealing). David Archuletta was painfully bad, but has such a huge fan base of little girls so he is safe and will probably wind up winning the whole thing (barf). Jason Castro was good, and i love his laid back 'who gives a shit' attitude. Brooke White sounded really good, but the judges are crazy--this week she is criticized for bringing in the band halfway through the song, when just 3 weeks ago she was told she should do this (the Pat Benatar song). Michael Johns sounds great and looked great. Favorite of the night, David Cook, once again. the show may be bogus, but i still love it. and it is far better than last year

American Idol - top 11- Beatles (again)- who goes home tonite?
i am really stuck tonite! most of the songs were pretty bad. who i want to go home is probably not who WILL go home. i think the absolute worst performance of the night was Syesha Mercado singing "Yesterday"- i honestly had to turn the volume down. and then, the judges totally praised her after nearly trashing everyone prior (except for super plant archuleta). the show is so fixed i am getting really irked. Syesha sucked followed very closely by Kristy Lee Cook, Amanda Overmyer and Karly Smithson (she looks like the joker from batman when she sings--i can barely look at her). i liked Brooke White, David Cook, and Chickezie. Michael Johns, Jason and Ramiel better step it up (when are they going to pick decent songs???) i would like to say 'goodbye Syesha' but i have a feeling it will be Kristy Lee. oh well, no great loss....

Scary stuff you wont see MSNBC!
Watch this video--- this is what they are showing on the news overseas about what is tragically happening right in our own country. for some reason our newschannels are obsessed with running stories about ashley alexandra dupree (aka whore of ny) and the mcgreevey threesomes. keeping the sheep in the dark....

American Idol Results Show- 3/12
well, i was almost right--- in fact i think it has to be fixed, david hernandez had a fan base that would be voting for him despite his previous job at the 'pizza bistro'. i cant imagine more people voted for syesha mercado than for him (or christy cook even). idol must not want pizza boy on the 'top ten' tour. oh well! looking forward to next week, just wish they werent doing the beatles again. yuck!

American Idol - top 12- Beatles -Who goes home tonite?
going home--it has to be Syesha Mercado---- way too boring. cant imagine someone wasting their time dialing for her---- not that she was the worst, Kristy Lee Cook's rendition of 8 Days a Week was really bad and David Hernandez (unfortunately) was pretty awful. and he says he has been working at a pizza bistro? is that code for 'gay strip joint' now? on the bright side, i really liked David Cook, and Chikezie wasn't so cheesy this week; in fact i rather enjoyed him.

American Idol results show 3/6
well, 3 for 4 again! i honestly think Cheesy Chikezie should have gone, for sure it was the "santa tape" scandal that hurt Danny Noriega (perhaps i should boycott drudge??:)

American Idol - 80s week- who goes home tonite?
The Girls
Kady Malloy - tedious, painful, yuck! Asiah Epperson- boring. not horrible, but i cant imagine who would go out of their way to vote for her (other than her friends)
Kristy lee Cook sucked big time, but i think she has a fan base so will be safe.
The Guys
Luke -- wake me up before you go go home (too bad- cute guy, really bad song choice)Chikezie -- i just cant imagine people are voting for him-
i need to say that David Cook rocked out- he was awesome! Michael Johns was also great- i am definitely liking the guys over the girls this year

Recipe of the week: Crockpot Chicken Soup
this is SUPER easy and very good- if you let the noodles sit in the crock a little longer, it is more like chicken and noodles, rather than a soup- great either way!
Crock Pot Chicken Noodle Soup
15 min prep | SERVES 6 -8
2 | lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts |
4 | cans chicken broth |
2 | cans Cream of Chicken Soup, with herbs |
4 | stalks celery, washed and chopped |
1 | large onion, chopped |
2 | cups baby carrots (or sliced carrots) |
1 (16 | ounce) bag egg noodles |
- Put everything into the crock pot EXCEPT for the noodles.
- Cook on low for 7-8 hours.
- Remove chicken and shred.
- Replace chicken back into crock pot.
- Add noodles and cook on high for 1/2 hour or until cooked, depending on your crock pot.
